Should you delete or disable comments?
Witty exchanges under advertising posts are a long-standing tradition. My stance is that negativity in comments doesn’t affect ad performance in any way. I’ve had dozens of cases where people were feuding in the comments while the ads paid off well. But you still need to moderate and handle the hate so you don’t create a negative company image overall.
Generally speaking, you need to monitor comments, handle negativity, and respond to positivity.
If we’re running ads through the “Promote” button in the Instagram app, everything’s dead simple. Posts aren’t duplicated, we respond under our own name, and everything’s peachy.
But what if there are lots of ad posts and we’re running ads through Facebook’s ad manager? Or if there are simply too many comments and it’s difficult to work with them from the Instagram app?
Where can you see all comments and respond to them?
Go to Facebook. In the top right corner, select your business page that’s running the ads.
Then click on this icon in the top right corner. Or follow this link.

You should see a page like this.

Here you’ll find all direct messages and comments you receive. Unfortunately, you can’t separate ad comments from all other comments here. The “Ad responses” button only works for campaigns aimed at starting conversations.
How to delete comments on Facebook and Instagram ads?

Go to the right tab. Find the post. Find the comment. Click the 3 dots. Click “Delete.”
I’d recommend deleting comments only from complete nutjobs. Simple criticism is better handled properly. You can even get additional leads this way. People just passing by see that you communicate normally with clients, even unhappy ones.
How to hide a comment under an ad?

If we hide a comment, only the user who wrote it will see it. Like a shadow ban.
To hide it, first find the specific ad post.
How to do this in Insta is obvious. There usually aren’t many ad posts there. Go to the comment through notifications, click the 3 dots, then “Hide comment”
In Ads Manager it’s slightly trickier. First find the right ad. If that’s difficult, you can display the number of comments under posts in the column settings.
Go to this ad’s editing screen. On the right, above the preview window, click the arrow. Look for the “View post on…” button. In my case, that would be Facebook.
Find the comment. Click the 3 dots. Hide comment.

How to turn off comments on ads?
I don’t recommend doing this. Better to hide and handle negativity properly. But if you need to, you can only do this on Insta. From the app. Go to the post, click the 3 dots in the top right corner and turn off comments at the bottom.
You can’t turn off comments on Facebook. Well, this feature is currently only available in beta and not everyone has it. When it goes live, I’ll update this article.
